Phnom Penh, 13 August 2020 – Dr. Hor Peng, Rector of the National University of Management (NUM) and Mr. Nick Beresford, Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to frame and promote cooperation between the two parties. This builds on several joint activities in recent years – most notably, the establishment of a UNDP-sponsored Centre of Excellence on the Digital Economy at the University’s central Phnom Penh campus.
The MOU which initially will run for two years specifies several areas of cooperation, including: capacity building and training, joint research efforts, and the development of databases and informational resources, alongside general systems and institutional strengthening. The MOU will be followed up by a work programme to concretize joint future activities.
Nick Beresford commented “UNDP recognizes NUM’s emergence as a leading institution within Cambodia’s higher education sector and a research leader in the field of management science and applied economics. UNDP welcomes the opportunity to partner with such a key player in unlocking Cambodia’s full potentials.”
