Recap 2nd Cambodia Media Lab

January 2, 2020

The gathering of industry professionals through the Cambodia Media Lab with the aim to empower, connect, and train local media entrepreneurs is part of the UNDP Media Alternatives project. Under the funding from the UK Embassy, a media lab was organised and delivered which focused specifically on press freedom and investigative journalism. The event bought together a keynote speaker from Rappler based in the Philippines, a journalist from Reuters and the media director of Voice of Democracy (VOD) in Cambodia. Industry professionals from the US Embassy in Cambodia, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), Cambodia Center for Independent Media (CCIM), and local media publications, for example, Thmey Thmey, Phnom Penh Post and Khmer Times,  attended and took part in a vibrant discussion. A post-event survey was conducted, which had received positive and constructive feedback from the attendees. The Media Lab also served as a platform for the media community to learn, innovate, and to inspire each other.
