How Industry 4.0 can boost Cambodia’s economy after COVID-19: Opportunities for industrial upgrading and equitable development

This report, examines the challenges and opportunities of the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in established manufacturing sectors, such as garment, textiles, footwear and agro-processing; and emerging industries, such as bicycles, electronics and automotive.

Opportunities identified in this study include:

    .    Increasing the visibility and agility of garment supply chains through the adoption of cloud-based tools and data analytics;.    

    .    Improving food traceability through the application of radio-frequency identification (RFID) and blockchain technologies in the agro-processing sector; and

    .    Enhancing environmental sustainability in emerging industries through the use of digitally enabled energy and water management systems.

The report identifies four key areas of policy action to support the adaptation and adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in Cambodia in the short, medium and long terms:

    .    Make Industry 4.0 technologies accessible to SMEs

    .    Develop the offer of business advisory services

    .    Upskill and reskill employees

    .    Further develop the National Innovation System
